You Can Now Control Your Fire TV with Alexa

You probably already know that you can access Alexa on your FireTv by holding down the Mic button on the remote. But now you can control your Fire TV from any Alexa device.

Launch apps from Your Apps & Games
“Alexa, Open Netflix on my Fire TV”

Play a Movie or TV Show
“Alexa, Play House of Cards”

Search for a Movie or TV Show
“Alexa, Search for Star Wars on Fire TV”

Control Playback
“Alexa, Pause Fire TV”
“Alexa, Play Fire TV”

You may need to update your Fire TV software, which you can do by going to SETTINGS -DEVICE – ABOUT – Software Version – Check for System Update

Alexa is also adding the ability to view Camera feeds like Ring an Arlo on Fire TVs although this isn’t yet working on our Fire TV Stick.
After saying “Alexa, Show Me The Front Camera”, Alexa replied this will be available soon via a free update.

We may upgrade to a newer Fire TV to take advantage of the Camera Feeds(plus our Fire TV stick is a little slow.
